Rosarium Virginis Mariae - On October 16, 2002, the 24th anniversary of his papacy, Pope John Paul II issued an apostolic letter on the Rosary, Rosarium Virginis Mariae, that included guidance for praying the Rosary and added five new Mysteries from the Life of Christ, called the "Mysteries of Light" (or luminous mysteries).
